Dnipro mayor slams Ukrainian authorities amid missile strike, city hall raids
Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov has sharply criticized Ukrainian authorities following a Russian missile and drone strike that damaged a major boiler plant in the city, leaving hundreds of homes without heating.
In a statement, Filatov also described a raid at the city hall that took place early this morning.
“Yet another group of ‘law enforcement officers’ came to the city hall for a search,” he said, adding that the authorities were investigating alleged improper burials at the city landfill. The mayor noted that, alongside ongoing calls from utility, gas, and heating services, he is now dealing with lawyers and environmental inspectors.
Addressing the law enforcement personnel, Filatov questioned the timing of the raid: “Couldn’t you have conducted the search tomorrow instead of this morning?”
He further addressed the Ukrainian government more broadly, urging state leaders at all levels to take action. “Stop the chatter about ‘national unity,’ ‘invincibility,’ and ‘government reform.’ Until you rein in your frenzied dogs—who are already acting as a fifth column at full capacity—nothing will change. Alternatively, appoint your prosecutors and security officers everywhere, let them govern, and take full responsibility for everything,” Filatov wrote.
