Dozens of flights delayed at St. Petersburg airport following drone attack
Nearly 30 flights were delayed and several others diverted at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport on June 3 following a drone attack in the city, airport authorities said.
According to the airport's press service, 29 flights were delayed by more than two hours, while nine flights were redirected to alternate airports, as cited by the independent Russian outlet ASTRA.
The disruptions came after a drone attack in St. Petersburg earlier in the day prompted air defence activity across the region. The governor of the Leningrad Region said dozens of drones had been intercepted and that air defence operations were ongoing.
No immediate information was released on when normal flight operations would fully resume.
Earlier, ASTRA reported that a drone strike had caused a fire at the Petersburg Oil Terminal, the largest oil transshipment complex in northwestern Russia. Russian authorities have not officially confirmed that the facility was targeted.
