E3 leaders urge Iran to avoid further destabilisation post-US strikes
On June 22, the leaders of Britain, France, and Germany—collectively known as the E3—issued a joint statement urging Iran to refrain from any actions that could further destabilise the Middle East. This call came in response to recent US military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The E3 leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability across the region and emphasised their support for Israel's security. They reiterated their long-standing position that Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon and must cease posing a threat to regional security, Caliber.Az reports, citing the statement.
“We call upon Iran to engage in negotiations leading to an agreement that addresses all concerns associated with its nuclear program. We stand ready to contribute to that goal in coordination with all parties,” the statement reads.
The statement referenced the US strikes targeting nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, explaining that the objective remains preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
The declaration concluded with a warning to Iran against any further actions that could escalate tensions and destabilise the region, emphasising continued joint diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict from intensifying or spreading.
“We will continue our joint diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions and ensure the conflict does not intensify and spread further,” the statement added.
