EAPCA submits appeal to Dutch parliament over resolution on Azerbaijan
The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council of Azerbaijanis (EAPCA) has sent an appeal to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Netherlands regarding a resolution adopted in The Hague on April 16, which, according to the organisation, contains a one-sided approach toward Azerbaijan.
According to Report, EAPCA Chairman of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council of Azerbaijanis (EAPCA), Sahil Gasimov, said he personally delivered the official appeal on May 26 to committee secretary Arjen Westerhoff and foreign affairs secretary Jennifer Richardson.
The document claims that the Dutch parliament demonstrates a position that is far from objective and the principles of international law, viewing developments in the region through the prism of political interests.
It is noted that Azerbaijan has restored its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internationally recognised borders, and is taking steps to strengthen peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
According to Gasimov, the appeal also emphasises that the use of double standards toward Azerbaijan contradicts international law.
“Such documents, regularly adopted by the Dutch parliament against Azerbaijan, have already taken on the character of a targeted campaign. These biased resolutions, adopted at such a time, further encourage revanchist forces. EAPCA calls on the Dutch parliament to accept the new realities that have emerged in the South Caucasus and conveys the voice of Azerbaijanis living in this geographical region,” the appeal states.
