Embassy urges US citizens not to visit several sites in Armenian capital
The US embassy in Armenia has advised US citizens to avoid visiting several locations in Yerevan due to reports of bombs.
The embassy made the statement on its website, Caliber.Az reports quoting the Armenian media.
"According to local authorities, emergency services are currently investigating bomb threats at Zvartnots airport, at all metro stations, at the City Hall and the National Assembly. Please avoid these places and follow the news about further developments," the statement says.
At 18:59 on August 2, the National Crisis Management Centre of Armenia received signals about the mining of all metro stations, Zvartnots airport, at Baghramyan's address 19, as well as in all major military and civilian facilities.
Later, the Emergencies Ministry said that the work of the metro was temporarily suspended: an inspection of the territory is being carried out, the inspection work at the airport and the city hall has been completed and no explosive devices have been found.
