Erdogan: Türkiye becoming centre of “peace diplomacy”
Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the Turkish authorities are taking successful steps towards turning the country into one of the international centers of “peace diplomacy”.
He made the remarks while addressing a meeting of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media sources.
“We are turning Türkiye into one of the centers of 'peace diplomacy', going beyond the role of a source of stability in the region,” the Turkish leader said, among other things.
The head of state further emphasized that Türkiye is “carrying the banner of goodwill and spreading an atmosphere of peace, confidence and tranquility in all corners of the world, especially in geographies suffering from oppression.”
In another statement to a journalist, President Erdogan said he is ready to receive a delegation from the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) that met with PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who is under arrest on the island of Imrali.
“If the Imrali delegation asks for a meeting, I will grant it,” the president said.
