“EU Council President Antonio Costa in his inaugural speech at the EPC in Denmark, Copenhagen congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for achieving historic peace,” Hajiyev said.
On October 2, 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen to discuss regional cooperation and ongoing peace efforts. The leaders highlighted the importance of the Washington Peace Summit agreements, reviewed progress on regional transport and infrastructure projects—including Azerbaijan’s development initiatives and Armenia’s TRIPP project—and welcomed the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to implementing Confidence-Building Measures and maintaining regular dialogue.
On August 8, 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration at the White House in Washington, D.C., with U.S. President Donald Trump as a witness. The declaration, while not a formal treaty, represents a major step toward resolving the longstanding Karabakh conflict and normalising relations between the two countries.
Key elements of the agreement include enhanced bilateral cooperation, economic and infrastructural development, and the creation of the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) transit corridor, linking Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through southern Armenia. The United States has secured exclusive development rights for the corridor for 99 years.
