Azerbaijan pledges deeper cooperation with African partners
Azerbaijan says it plans to deepen cooperation with African partners at bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels, according to the country’s ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union.
Ruslan Nasibov made the remarks at a conference in Baku dedicated to Africa Day 2026, titled “Rising Continent, Emerging Partnerships," Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He said Azerbaijan’s recent chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement played a significant role in strengthening relations with African countries.
"During this period, we closely cooperated with African countries on issues of global justice, post-pandemic recovery, vaccine access, food security, and reform of international institutions," he stated.
Nasibov also highlighted humanitarian cooperation and development assistance as key pillars of Azerbaijan’s engagement with African partners.
According to him, initiatives involving the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) have supported a range of projects across the continent.
"This includes scholarship programs, technical assistance, medical support, disaster relief, and educational training," the diplomat emphasized.
He added that the current global environment requires stronger cooperation among developing countries based on equality and mutual respect.
"We are convinced that Africa will play an increasingly significant role in global processes," Nasibov added.
