Turkish embassy commemorates 108th anniversary of Baku liberation PHOTO
The Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan held a ceremony at Martyrs’ Alley on September 15 to commemorate the 108th anniversary of Baku’s liberation from occupation by the Caucasian Islamic Army under the command of Nuru Pasha.
According to the embassy, staff members, representatives of its military attaché’s office and advisers, along with officials from relevant Azerbaijani institutions, attended the ceremony, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün laid wreaths at the monuments and visited the graves of martyrs. He also placed carnations at the graves and signed the Book of Martyrs, the embassy said.
On September 15, 1918, Azerbaijani and Turkish troops liberated Baku from the Bolshevik-Dashnak junta.
