Azerbaijani speaker, TURKPA chief discuss next plenary session
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova has met with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ramil Hasan to discuss preparations for TURKPA's next plenary session, issues expected to be addressed at the event and the organisation's plans.
The next conference is scheduled to take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, in October, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Milli Majlis.
During the talks, the sides focused on the role of TURKPA in further developing co-operation among Turkic states, the organisation's importance in addressing issues of common interest to Turkic-speaking countries, and the significance of the support it receives from the leaders of its member states.
Sahiba Gafarova shared her views on the work carried out within TURKPA during Azerbaijan's chairmanship, as well as efforts to expand the organisation's ties with international parliamentary bodies, including the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
The parties noted that the Milli Majlis attaches great importance to further strengthening co-operation with TURKPA and the parliaments of its brotherly member states.
