Turkish FM hails upcoming OTS summit as historic step for Turkic world

The upcoming 13th Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) is regarded as a historic step toward advancing the concept of a common future for the Turkic world, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.

Speaking at a press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov on September 15, Fidan said the summit will be held in Ankara on October 30, preceded by a meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers in the Turkish capital on October 29, Caliber.Az reports.

“Important events are also on the agenda of the Turkic world in the coming period. We hope that on October 29, with the participation of the leaders, we will hold a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Turkic States in Ankara, and on October 30, the 13th Summit of the Organisation,” the FM outlined.

Fidan also highlighted the importance of Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations in the broader context of the Turkic world.

“Relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are cemented by unbreakable bonds: they operate on the principle of ‘one nation, two states’ and have taken the historical path of the Turkic world to its highest peaks. Taking this opportunity, we would like to express our gratitude to our presidents for their leadership on this issue,” the minister emphasised.
