EU revises financial support to Georgia over foreign agents law & anti-LGBT measures
The European Union has revised its plans to finance Georgia following the adoption of the country's foreign agents law and its plans to combat LGBT propaganda.
"We have already suspended support to the Georgian armed forces for 30 million euros for 2024 under the European Peace Facility," Caliber.Az reports, citing an informed source in the EU.
It is claimed that the decision to cut EU funding to Tbilisi is linked to European politicians' dissatisfaction with Georgia's desire to protect its sovereignty through the adoption of the foreign agents law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence," which mirrors similar legislation in the United States.
Additionally, Georgia faces the threat of being refused admission to the European Union due to these actions.
