EU says “not a single molecule” of Russian gas should be imported
The European Commission has rejected calls to ease restrictions on Russian gas imports amid the EU’s energy crisis, Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen has stated.
“The European Commission’s decision is clear: we must not use a single molecule of Russian gas in the future,” he said at a press conference in Brussels, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
On April 19, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini called for resuming energy supplies from Russia.
He noted that even the United States had paused sanctions blocking trade and purchases of Russian oil, and urged Brussels to follow suit.
Earlier, the US Treasury Department issued a new general license temporarily allowing transactions involving Russian oil and petroleum products loaded onto vessels before April 17.
