Ex-commander Zaluzhnyi warns of growing public discontent over mobilisation in Ukraine
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi has stated that current mobilisation practices in Ukraine are creating tensions between citizens and state authorities.
He wrote in an article for Ukrainian media that issues surrounding mobilisation and the methods used to carry it out are increasingly becoming a source of conflict between the population and the government, Caliber.Az reports.
He made it clear that the mobilisation system, which during wartime is meant to maintain the necessary level of combat capability, “must be reformed due to the changing nature of warfare.”
The former commander also said that Ukrainian society is experiencing fatigue from the conflict with Russia, which has resulted in “low motivation to serve and fight among a significant portion of those already mobilised.”
Zaluzhnyi stressed the need for reforms in the training of mobilisation reserves and in maintaining the army’s combat capabilities.
