Expert warns hypersonic missiles can reach Berlin from Moscow in 5 minutes
Germany has raised concerns about the risks associated with the development of hypersonic weapons, which are capable of flying from Moscow to Berlin in just five minutes, according to a report by n-tv.
Markus Ziegler of the German Aerospace Industries Association stated that a hypersonic missile could travel from Beijing to Berlin in 20 minutes. He emphasized that this advancement marks a turning point that could significantly impact future conflicts.
Ziegler highlighted that the world is becoming increasingly interconnected, likening it to a "village" where technology can be used to create threats or exert geopolitical influence.
NATO General Christian Badia urged Western countries to enhance their defences against modern hypersonic weapons.
The publication also noted a shift in expert opinion: while there was hope in 2020 for controlling hypersonic weapons, there is now growing pessimism about the feasibility of such control.
