Explosion kills four Syrian soldiers in Deir ez-Zor province
Four Syrian army soldiers were killed and nine others injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated under a military bus in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province.
The explosion occurred near the village of Salu, east of Deir ez-Zor, targeting a vehicle transporting army personnel assigned as guards at a local oil facility, Syria TV reports.
The channel's correspondent reported: “Four Syrian army soldiers working as guards at an oil facility were killed and nine others were injured when their bus was blown up by an improvised explosive device near the village of Salu, east of Deir ez-Zor.”
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, the region has seen sporadic violence and insurgent activity in recent years, particularly involving remnants of the Islamic State (ISIS), which remains active in parts of eastern Syria.
