Kazakhstan industrial incident sends five to hospital, one critical PHOTO / VIDEO / UPDATED
Doctors have provided updates on the condition of those injured in an emergency incident at the Kazzinc plant in Kazakhstan, stating that five people were taken to a medical facility, two were hospitalised, and one remains in critical condition.
Deputy Chief Physician of the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialised Medical Centre, Murat Nurbikenov, said the first alert about a mass admission of injured patients was received at 08:30, according to Kazakh media.
By 08:40, an emergency medical team led by a resuscitator was formed, including a traumatologist and a therapist. At 08:45, patients began arriving at the hospital.
“A total of five injured people were brought in — four men and one woman. Three were diagnosed with superficial bruises and abrasions and were discharged after examination. Two patients were hospitalised,” he said.
According to him, a man born in 1980 was admitted in critical condition. Doctors diagnosed burns covering more than 90% of his body, burns to the upper respiratory tract and cornea, as well as post-traumatic shock. He received emergency medical care.
The second injured person, born in 1974, suffered a compression fracture of the third lumbar vertebra with damage to the processes and was admitted to the traumatology department.

A fire at the Kazzinc facility in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, has been brought under control by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, with reports indicating that several people have been injured.
According to the ministry’s official Telegram channel, rescuers are currently dismantling structures and extinguishing remaining hotspots until the fire is fully eliminated.
“A search for victims is ongoing. According to preliminary information, four people are being transported to medical facilities,” the ministry added.
A total of 40 personnel and 10 units of equipment have been deployed at the site. The total area affected by the fire is still being determined.
An operational headquarters has been established, including representatives of government bodies and relevant services.
Earlier on May 5, an incident occurred at the plant when a dust collection device exploded. Emergency services are conducting search operations for possible victims.
Some media outlets reported that up to nine people may have been injured, with three in serious condition.
“One person is receiving resuscitation measures on site. Another injured individual was transported to a medical facility by company staff,” emergency services stated.
