Fire Point builds Ukraine’s first defence plant on NATO soil

20 August 2026 13:27

Ukrainian defence company Fire Point is building a solid rocket-fuel plant in Denmark, which it describes as the first Ukrainian chemical defence production facility on NATO territory.

The company presented full-scale mock-ups of its FP-1 strike drone, FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile, and FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles at the DALO Industry Days defence exhibition in Herning on August 19, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

Fire Point Rocket Technologies, the Danish subsidiary of Fire Point Ukraine, is the company’s first facility outside Ukraine.

“We are going to open a plant here with enormous capacity to produce large quantities of solid rocket fuel — initially for Fire Point, but also to be able to supply other companies. We are currently at the construction stage, but we already have all the necessary permits to launch it,” Fire Point COO Viacheslav Bondarchuk said.

According to Fire Point CEO and CTO Iryna Terekh, Europe remains highly dependent on other countries for critical defence capabilities, particularly the US and China.

The project was initially estimated at €50 million, but its cost has now risen to more than €150 million.

Fire Point said the FP-7, with a range of up to 300 kilometres, is undergoing final tests and is expected to see its first combat use by the end of September. The FP-9 has a stated range of 800–850 kilometres, with its first test launch planned by the end of the year.

Under the FREYJA project, Fire Point is developing and manufacturing FP-7.x interceptor missiles and integrating components including control systems and launchers into a single ballistic missile defence system.

Terekh said the company’s technologies were developed in Ukraine by Ukrainian engineers during the full-scale war and are being further refined based on combat experience.

Fire Point’s Danish operation currently employs around 15 people in administration and project management. Around 100 additional people are involved through partners, subcontractors and consultants.

Following the launch of production, the company expects to employ several hundred workers and around 100 administrative and engineering staff.
