FM: Georgia aspires to strategic partnership with US
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili discussed the state of relations between Tbilisi and Washington in remarks to local media, noting that while practical cooperation continues, political engagement remains limited.
“Work is being done at the working level, but the political field is empty,” Botchorishvili said.
She explained that Georgia is awaiting clearer signals from Washington regarding the future direction of bilateral relations. “We are talking about messages from the US; we expect to define a certain framework in relations with Georgia. However, we can observe the events that are taking place in the US legislature, the way the processes in connection with the MEGOBARI Act have developed,” the minister stated.
Botchorishvili added that Tbilisi has already presented its views, interests, and proposals to the US side, underscoring Georgia’s aspiration to elevate its cooperation with Washington to the level of a strategic partnership — a goal, she said, that will require further dialogue through upcoming bilateral meetings.
