French FM Barrot to visit Ukraine, pledging France's support amid ongoing crises
Jean-Noel Barrot, the French Foreign Minister is set to visit Ukraine this weekend.
In an interview with French media, Barrot noted that the security of the continent, particularly regarding food and energy, is intricately tied to the situation in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
"I am going to Ukraine to represent France and reaffirm our commitment to addressing crises,” Barrot stated.
He also touched upon Russia’s potential involvement in the forthcoming peace summit, which is expected to take place by the end of the year.
Barrot underscored the importance of allowing Ukraine to negotiate "from a position of strength" and stressed the need to prepare for peace.
"If conditions are set for Russia to be invited to the next peace summit, I will do everything in my power to ensure Russia engages with the language of international law, which we uphold," Barrot added.
He further emphasised the necessity for Russia to adhere to international legal principles and recognise Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
"Without this, it will undoubtedly be challenging to reach any agreement," he concluded.
