FSB foils attempted smuggling of military engines to Kazakhstan
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented the illegal export of military-use diesel engines that were allegedly being smuggled from Russia to Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
Investigators said the head of a Moscow-based company purchased nine diesel engines in the Kurgan region through intermediaries with the intention of shipping them to Kazakhstan. The FSB stated that the engines are capable of being used in the production of military equipment.
According to the security service, the entrepreneur failed to obtain the required export license and submitted false information in customs declarations. Criminal proceedings have been initiated, and the suspect faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison as well as a fine of up to one million rubles ($12,900).
