Funds from ex-president's son transferred to Ukrainian army
The funds of Oleksandr Yanukovych, the son of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, in the amount of 304 million hryvnias (about $8.1 million) have been transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
These funds were previously seized as part of a criminal case, Lenta.Ru reports citing the Ukrainian Prosecutor-General's Office.
"During the pre-trial investigation, prosecutors of the Prosecutor-General's Office seized the funds of officials of the All-Ukrainian Development Bank and directly the funds of the ex-president's son. Currently, 304 million hryvnias have been credited to a special account to ensure the defence capability of Ukraine," the report says.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor-General's Office reported that according to their information, the only shareholder of this bank since 2011 was Viktor Yanukovych's son Alexander. He was arrested in absentia in October 2021. The ex-president's son is suspected, together with his father, of illegally seizing the complex of structures of the Mezhyhirya state residence.
