09 July 2024 14:56

Fuzuli International Airport, inaugurated three years ago in record time in areas liberated from Armenian occupation, now stands not only as a crucial transportation hub but also as a symbol of accessibility and development for Azerbaijan's Karabakh region.

Fuzuli Airport has hosted numerous heads of state, and hundreds of representatives from domestic and foreign think tanks, underscoring its strategic significance and potential for regional advancement, Caliber.Az reports.

During the recent unofficial summit of the Organisation of Turkic States in Shusha, Fuzuli International Airport facilitated over 40 flights, including more than 10 different types of aircraft. The successful arrivals of aircraft such as Gulfstream V, Falcon 7X, Airbus 319, 320, Embraer 190, wide-body Il-96, Airbus 330, 340, and Boeing 787 reaffirmed its capability to handle diverse aircraft types, showcasing its modern technological infrastructure and adherence to international standards.

Featuring a 3000-meter-long, 60-meter-wide runway, the airport ensures safe and comfortable take-offs and landings for various aircraft types. Equipped with automated systems, the Air Traffic Control tower operates in compliance with ICAO and IATA standards.

Additionally, the terminal, furnished with contemporary amenities, accommodates at least 200 passengers per hour. It includes baggage conveyors, check-in systems, VIP lounges, shops, restaurants, and other essential facilities to enhance the comfort of arriving passengers and guests.

Today, Fuzuli International Airport, serving as Karabakh's primary air gateway, is evolving into a pivotal transport and logistics center, playing a crucial role in the economic, political, and cultural life of the region.

Starting from July 17, the launch of regular flights by Azerbaijan's national air carrier, AZAL, to Karabakh will mark a new phase in the region's closer integration with Azerbaijan and the global community. This initiative will also significantly boost Karabakh's future development and enhance its tourism potential.
