Georgian party claims “deep state” influence expanding across Europe
The United Neutral Georgia party has claimed that European Union countries are experiencing a “systemic crisis” and that informal political forces are gaining increasing influence over European institutions.
The party argues that since the late 2000s the influence of the “deep state” in Europe has expanded, while democratic mechanisms have gradually weakened, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
“We remember that European democratic systems for decades were considered a model for other countries of the world; however, unfortunately, over time informal oligarchic forces gained influence over political parties across Europe,” the statement said.
It further claimed that media outlets and education systems have also come under the influence of such forces, contributing to what it described as the spread of “pseudo-liberal ideas.”
The party said the current situation in Europe requires a reassessment of political approaches and a review of the effectiveness of existing institutions.
It also argued that issues related to LGBTQ rights, gender theories, and uncontrolled migration are contributing to what it described as the erosion of Europe’s traditional identity and a decline in living standards.
