CEC: Georgia's ruling party is winning parliamentary elections
The ruling "Georgian Dream" party has won 52.98% of votes in the parliamentary elections after processing 69.94% of ballots, according to data on the website of the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC).
A total of 921,067 voters voted for the "Georgian Dream" ("Georgian Dream," "Power of the People"), which amounted to 52.98%, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
The rest of the votes were distributed as follows: “Coalition for Change“ (”Akhali“, "Girchi - More Freedom", "Droa") - 11.99% (194,662), "Unity - National Movement" (”United National Movement”, ”Agmashenebeli Strategy, “European Georgia“) - 9.08% (170,442), "Strong Georgia" (”Lelo for Georgia”, "For the People", "Freedom Square", "Citizens") - 9.04% (157,143), "For Georgia" - 8.24% (143,289).
The ruling "Georgian Dream" party held a festive fireworks display outside its Tbilisi headquarters following the release of the first exit polls from the parliamentary elections.
Leaders of "Georgian Dream" expressed gratitude to voters while remaining cautious about their anticipated victory
Bidzina Ivanishvili, the party's billionaire founder and honorary chairman, thanked supporters for their loyalty over four elections. He remarked, "It’s rare for a single party to achieve such success in challenging circumstances. This is a testament to the talent of the Georgian people. I assure you, our country will see great progress in the next four years."
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the importance of the public's role in their success, stating, "The real authors of this victory are the Georgian people — over a million citizens came out to support peace and a bright, European future for our country. Congratulations!"
