Georgia, Türkiye push for full utilization of Middle Corridor transit potential
Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, has met with her Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, to discuss the full utilization of transit and transport potential between the two countries in the context of developing the Middle Corridor.
According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked his Georgian colleague for the support and efforts provided following the crash of a Turkish military aircraft. The strong strategic partnership and intensive bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Türkiye were positively noted. Special attention was given to the active dynamics of high-level visits as well as exchanges between specialized agencies. The importance of holding the third session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was emphasized,” the ministry statement said.
The foreign ministers also reviewed trade and economic cooperation and highlighted the importance of leveraging the transit and transport capacities of both countries to advance the Middle Corridor initiative. This collaboration is expected to open new avenues for efficient international transit and enhance economic interaction between the two nations.
In addition, both sides recognized successful cooperation within international organizations and reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination on key regional initiatives, further strengthening strategic ties and bilateral engagement.
