Georgian elections "choice between peace vs chaos", president says
Georgia is facing a decisive choice between peace and chaos in the October 4 local elections, President Mikheil Kavelashvili said after casting his ballot in Tbilisi, where he arrived with his family.
Kavelashvili emphasised that voters were deciding between stability, development and peace on the one hand, and confrontation, polarization and disorder on the other. He expressed confidence that Georgian society would have no difficulty making the right choice, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The president thanked citizens who were participating in the elections, noting that since regaining independence the country had endured many trials and become wiser. He stressed that the current reality offered Georgia an opportunity to ensure both peace and development.
On October 4, voters in 64 cities and districts are electing mayors and deputies to local consultative bodies, known as sakrebulo.
