Georgian PM: Trade turnover between Armenia, Georgia surges by 70% in 2022
The trade turnover between Armenia and Georgia from January to November 2022 increased by 70 per cent compared to the same indicator for 2021, exceeding $1 billion.
According to Sputnik Armenia, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated this at a meeting of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission in Yerevan, the Cabinet of Ministers of Georgia reports.
“Thus, Armenia has become the sixth trading partner of Georgia. We have growth and positive dynamics in all areas of cooperation: tourism, transportation, commodity turnover,” Garibashvili said.
The Prime Minister of Georgia stressed that he considers the commission an important platform for strengthening ties in the economy, trade, transport and culture. Garibashvili also pointed out that today's meeting will be another step towards economic growth, progress and innovation. According to him, this can be achieved only in conditions of stability and peace in the region.
The Georgian leader stressed that Tbilisi is interested in establishing long-term peace and recalled the platform he proposed - the Neighborhood Peace Initiative, noting that it would not replace other formats, but, on the contrary, would increase the likelihood of long-term peace and stability in the region.
The Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is in Armenia to participate in the 12th session of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
The Georgian delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, and head of the government administration Revaz Javelidze.
