Türkiye, Kazakhstan sign cooperation plan for 2026-2027
The foreign ministries of Türkiye and Kazakhstan have signed a Cooperation Plan for 2026–2027 in Ankara.
The agreement followed the eighth meeting of the Türkiye–Kazakhstan Joint Strategic Planning Group, chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Kazakh counterpart, Yermek Kosherbayev, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The plan outlines the future framework for collaboration between the two countries’ foreign ministries, defining key areas for diplomatic and strategic cooperation.
Türkiye-Kazakhstan relations are managed through a robust network of institutional mechanisms, including the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), the Joint Economic Commission, and regular political consultations.
Kazakhstan is Türkiye’s leading trade partner in Central Asia, with bilateral trade reaching $8.95 billion in the first eleven months of 2025. Over 3,000 Turkish companies operate across multiple sectors in Kazakhstan, with total Turkish investments in non-energy sectors amounting to around $5.8 billion.
In the energy sector, Kazakhstan ranks as Türkiye’s third-largest oil supplier after Russia and Iraq, with collaboration also covering natural gas, renewable energy, and energy logistics.
