Germany unprepared for Trump victory, says Jens Spahn
Jens Spahn, deputy head of the CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag, believes Germany is ill-prepared for a potential return of Donald Trump to power in the United States, despite acknowledging the US as Germany's most crucial ally.
"Germany is not prepared for a Trump victory," Spahn stated in an interview with Bild am Sonntag, according to Caliber.Az.
"Many people nervously roll their eyes at the mention of Trump, but reflexive outrage is not politics," Spahn emphasized, as quoted by the newspaper.
"This is irresponsible! The US will remain Germany's most important partner even under Trump - geostrategically, militarily, economically, and technologically," he asserted, advocating for the swift establishment of contacts with Trump's team.
Spahn highlighted Trump's consistent pursuit of key political goals such as containing China, managing migration, boosting European NATO contributions, and addressing nuclear threats from Iran and North Korea.
He plans to attend the Republican convention beginning Monday, underscoring his engagement with US political dynamics.
