Another group of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) departed on December 24 for the villages of Sos in the Khojavand district and Horovlu in the Jabrayil district. The families had previously been living temporarily in various regions of the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums and administrative buildings, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
At the current stage, 24 families comprising 99 people have been resettled in the village of Sos, while 19 families with 70 people have moved to Horovlu. In total, 43 families (169 people) were resettled on this day.
Those resettled in Sos include families from the Beylagan, Fuzuli, Absheron, Imishli, Guba and Bilasuvar districts, as well as from Baku and Sumgayit. The families resettled in Horovlu arrived from Baku, Bilasuvar, Absheron, Sumgayit and Shirvan.
With the latest phase of relocations, the total number of families resettled in Sos has reached 85 families (360 people), while Horovlu is now home to 191 families (762 people).
The Great Return programme aims to ensure the safe, dignified and sustainable return of former IDPs to their native lands, alongside the restoration of infrastructure, housing and public services in the liberated areas.
