"Great Return": more families receive keys to new homes in rebuilt Tazabina, Khanyurdu villages Photo/Updated

Families who have returned to the village of Khanyurdu in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district have been given keys to their new homes.

The key handover ceremony was attended by officials from the Special Representative Office of the President of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankandi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, as well as representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

At this stage, 11 families, comprising 38 people, have returned to the village.

Thus, the number of families who have returned to the village has reached 110 (378 people).

A new group of formerly internally displaced families has arrived in Tazabina village in Azervbaijan's Khojhaly distrcit.

Upon arrival, residents were presented with keys to their newly rebuilt homes at a ceremony attended by officials from the special representative office of the President in Khankandi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, along with representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Caliber.Az reports via local media

Following the latest resettlement, the total number of families restored to Tazabina has reached 126, comprising 567 people.

A new group of formerly internally displaced families has left for permanent residence in their native villages of Tazabina and Khanyurdu in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district, under the ongoing Great Return initiative.

At this stage, 16 families (66 people) are resettling in Tazabina, and 11 families (38 people) in Khanyurdu, Caliber.Az reports per local media

With this new group, the overall number of families resettled in Tazabina will reach 126 (567 people), and in Khanyurdu— 110 (378 people).

Alongside the newly resettled former internally displaced persons, more than 50,000 people currently reside in Karabakh and East Zangezur. 

This includes individuals engaged in the region’s reconstruction projects and those serving in local branches of state institutions, as well as in healthcare, education, culture, tourism, industry, and energy sectors that have resumed operations.

Azerbaijan's Great Return program, launched in 2022, aims to resettle approximately 140,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) by 2026 in territories liberated during the 2020 Karabakh war.
