Gulf states intercept new wave of Iranian missiles and drones
Countries across the Gulf region intercepted new waves of Iranian missiles and drones overnight into Wednesday morning, March 11.
As reported by CNN, the government of the United Arab Emirates urged residents to remain in safe locations. The country’s Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems were “responding to threats from Iran involving missiles and drones.”
In Saudi Arabia, officials said that within the past two hours, air defence systems had intercepted six ballistic missiles that were heading toward Prince Sultan Air Base. The Saudi Ministry of Defence also reported that several drones had been intercepted in the eastern parts of the country.
Earlier, Saudi authorities said they had intercepted ballistic missiles that were heading toward the Shaybah oil field.
In Bahrain, warning sirens sounded on Wednesday morning, and the Interior Ministry urged residents to take shelter in the nearest safe location.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps earlier stated that it had launched “multi-layered and continuous strikes on US and (Israeli) bases.”
