Hanoi faces fresh flooding as storm season intensifies
On October 7, torrential rains triggered by Typhoon Matmo flooded parts of Hanoi, the latest in a series of floods to hit Vietnam’s capital amid ongoing storms in the country’s north.
Heavy downpours inundated major roads, leaving cars and motorbikes stranded while residents waded through knee-deep water, Caliber.Az reports per Reuters.
The central districts were particularly affected, as the city’s drainage system struggled to cope with the volume of rainfall.
Several schools in the capital were closed or switched to remote learning, and multiple flights to and from Noi Bai International Airport were delayed or rescheduled.
Last week, Typhoon Bualoi caused severe flooding in Hanoi, leaving at least 51 people dead nationwide and causing an estimated $600 million in damage.
