Hotel prices in Russia rise modestly amid seasonal demand
The average cost of hotel accommodation in Russia has increased to 11,285 rubles per night ($158), marking a 3.5% rise compared to the previous year, according to the president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RUTI), Ilya Umansky, speaking to the National News Service (NSN).
Umansky said the pricing structure in the hospitality sector typically reflects seasonal demand, with higher prices recorded during peak travel periods.
“Looking at the average cost of holidays for the upcoming summer season, hotel accommodation stands at 11,285 rubles per night ($158), which is 3.5% higher than last year. This is still below inflation. By comparison, last year we saw a 12% increase, so this year we are observing a slowdown in growth,” he said.
According to RUTI data, average nightly rates vary by category: 8,204 rubles ($115) for one- and two-star hotels, 9,158 rubles ($128) for three-star properties, and 14,582 rubles ($204) for four- and five-star hotels.
Umansky also noted that some regions, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Murmansk regions, Krasnodar Krai, and several others, have recorded a decline in average accommodation prices.
