Hundreds of Armenia-based schools want to teach Turkish, Azerbaijani languages
About 400 schools in Armenia have expressed interest in teaching languages of neighbouring countries.
Armenian Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Zhanna Andreasyan made the statement while discussing the report "On the progress and results of the implementation of the Armenian government programme (2021-2026) in 2022" at an extraordinary session on April 19 in the parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
She recalled that schools can include learning languages of neighbouring countries in their curriculum on a voluntary basis.
"The schools showed the greatest interest in teaching Turkish. So far, it's difficult to find such a number of teachers for Turkish, as well as Azerbaijani, Farsi and Georgian. There is a strong staff shortage just in case of the Georgian language," Andreasyan said.
