Hundreds of cases of HIV/AIDS infection detected in Armenia
The total number of cases of HIV infection detected in Armenia from January 1 to October 31 was 421.
According to the press service of Armenia’s Ministry of Health, during the same period, 183 cases of AIDS infection were detected, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
It is noted that of the total number of identified HIV cases, 293 were registered among men and 128 among women.
As for AIDS, 135 infected are men, 48 are women.
Note that HIV is an infectious chronic disease. It is characterized by specific damage to the immune system, leading to its slow destruction. A drug has not yet been found that could remove HIV from the body, so the infection is still incurable, but it is suppressed with medications.
AIDS is the last stage of the development of HIV infection. During the AIDS stage, the immune system is so weakened that other diseases that develop against the background of HIV infection take an irreversible course and lead to death.
