Israeli army eliminates Hezbollah unit commanders in Beirut
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have killed senior commanders of a unit responsible for coordinating between Hezbollah and Palestinian groups in the Middle East, the IDF press service reported on its Telegram channel.
“Earlier today (Monday), the IDF conducted a strike in Beirut and eliminated Hamza Ibrahim Rakin, Deputy Commander of Unit 1800, along with the unit’s Operations Officer.
Unit 1800 is responsible for coordinating between the Hezbollah terrorist organisation and Palestinian terrorist organisations operating in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, and Judea and Samaria.
As part of his role, Rakin served as a key liaison between the Hezbollah terrorist organisation and Palestinian terrorist organisations, and oversaw the transfer of terrorists from these organisations to engage in combat against IDF troops operating in southern Lebanon. Alongside Rakin, the Operations Officer of Unit 1800 and an additional terrorist operative in the unit were also eliminated.
In additional strikes carried out throughout the day in Beirut and southern Lebanon, IDF soldiers targeted command centres belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation.
The IDF will continue to operate decisively against the Hezbollah terrorist organisation, which has chosen to join the hostilities and operate under the auspices of the Iranian terrorist regime. The IDF will not allow harm to Israeli civilians,” the statement said.
