Incumbent mayor wins over 70% of votes in Moscow election
Moscow’s incumbent mayor Sergei Sobyanin has received 76.39 per cent of votes in the elections for the head of the Russian capital.
According to the data of the Russian Central Election Commission, these results follow after 100 per cent of the protocols of district election commissions were processed, TASS reports.
Thus, 2,499,114 voters cast their ballots in favour of Sobyanin. Russia’s Communist Party candidate Leonid Zyuganov gained 8.11 per cent or 265,374 votes. Liberal Democratic Party of Russia candidate Boris Chernyshov gained 5.61 per cent or 183,529 votes, Vladislav Davankov of the New People Party 5.34 per cent or 174,869 votes, and Dmitry Gusev (Just Russia - For Truth) 3.93 per cent or 128,701 votes.
Earlier, Olga Kirillova, chairwoman of the Moscow City Election Commission, said that about 3.3 million people took part in voting in the Russian capital. More than 2.7 million Muscovites made their choice via remote electronic voting.
