India’s Modi seeks peaceful end to Ukraine conflict Brazil stands neutral
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to doing everything possible to help bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine, according to the country’s Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Speaking about India’s role in global peace efforts, Jaishankar highlighted Modi’s proactive diplomacy, including his visits to both Moscow and Kyiv, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"The war in Ukraine continues, and the goal of Prime Minister Modi is to help in any way he can to put an end to it," Jaishankar said, stressing India’s desire for a peaceful world. He added, "You see conflicts happening all over the world. There is a war in Gaza, there is a war between Russia and Ukraine. We want a world free of conflicts."
Jaishankar also noted that in the first 100 days of Modi’s third term, the government has been actively working on global peace initiatives.
In related diplomatic news, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reaffirmed Brazil’s neutral stance on the Ukraine-Russia conflict. According to Correio Braziliense, Lula da Silva emphasized that Brazil supports a peaceful resolution and will avoid military involvement. “It is important for Brazil to stay out of this conflict and favour a peaceful solution. Those who want to talk to us now could have done so before the war started,” he stated.
Lula da Silva also reiterated Brazil’s condemnation of the Russian invasion while underlining the importance of dialogue and non-violence in resolving the conflict.
