Int'l Court of Justice confirms Azerbaijan's commitment to its obligations
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov has said that Armenia raised another issue before the International Court of Justice over imposing an obligation to Azerbaijan regarding the safe and free passage of people, movement of vehicles and transportation of goods along the Lachin road.
Mammadov made these remarks at a briefing on the decision of the International Court of Justice dated February 22, 2023, on applying the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, according to Azertag.
“The Azerbaijani side has stated its position on this issue. According to the tripartite statement, the Lachin road is temporarily monitored by Russian peacekeepers, and Azerbaijan's responsibility is to ensure the safety of transportation of humanitarian goods,” he noted.
“We noted at the court hearings that Azerbaijan remains true to its obligations. Guarantees were given that the safety of transportation of humanitarian goods would be ensured. In its decision, the International Court of Justice emphasised Azerbaijan's commitment to its obligations,” Mammadov said.
