Iran–Iraq border crossing to reopen after suspension
The international Tamarchin–Haji Omran Border Crossing between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan is set to resume passenger traffic and trade on Sunday after operations were suspended earlier this month following strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian facilities.
According to Shafaq News, which cited the crossing’s administration, the reopening will restore both travel and commercial activity at the key border point.
On the Iraqi side, the crossing lies roughly 65 kilometres from the city of Soran, close to the popular tourist areas of Rawanduz Valley and Bekhal Waterfall. The town of Choman, located at the foot of Mount Halgurd — the highest mountain in Iraq — is about 20 kilometres from the crossing.
On the Iranian side, the Tamarchin Border Terminal is situated about 140 kilometres from Urmia and approximately 285 kilometres from Tabriz in northwestern Iran.
