Iran launches missile attacks on US military facilities across Middle East
Iran has launched a large-scale missile assault on multiple US military facilities across the Middle East, in retaliation for ongoing US and Israeli strikes on its territory.
According to Iranian state media, missiles were fired at American bases in several countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq, Khabar Fouri reports.
Iranian outlets claimed the attacks targeted “all” US bases in the region.
In Bahrain, a missile strike was reported against the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Al-Juffair. Local sources cited by CBS News confirmed that a major American military installation in the country had been targeted.
In Qatar, the Al-Udeid Air Base was struck, while authorities said air defences intercepted incoming missiles. Explosions were also reported in the capital, Doha.
In Kuwait, Iranian missiles targeted Camp Arifjan as well as Ahmad Al-Jaber and Ali Al Salem air bases. Media reports said explosions were heard in parts of the country.
In the United Arab Emirates, Al Dhafra and Al-Fujairah air bases, along with the port of Jebel Ali, were listed among the targets. Explosions were reported in Abu Dhabi.
In Saudi Arabia, Iranian missiles were directed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Riyadh, as well as military facilities in Tabuk, Khamis Mushait and Jeddah.
The Muwaffaq al-Salti air base in Jordan was also targeted, according to regional reports. US installations in Jordan were among those hit, CBS News sources said, though there were no immediate confirmations of successful strikes.
In Iraq, the US base in Erbil was reported to have come under missile fire.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or confirmed damage to US facilities.
