Iran maintains indirect communications with US on nuclear issue, diplomat
Iran continues to exchange messages with the United States through third-party intermediaries but has not yet decided whether to resume direct or indirect negotiations concerning its nuclear program.
Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the ongoing communication during a weekly press briefing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“Negotiations with the U.S. on various issues are ongoing through intermediaries,” Baghaei said. “We send messages via the U.S. Interests Section at the Swiss embassy in Tehran, as well as through other third countries that relay responses from the American side.”
However, Baghaei emphasized that Iran has not made any decision about renewing talks in a new format aimed at resolving disputes over its nuclear activities.
He also dismissed recent reports suggesting that a new round of indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. would take place in Norway, stating, “We do not confirm these reports.”
