Iran navy fires warning shots at US destroyers in Gulf of Oman
Iran’s navy fired warning shots at US destroyers in the Gulf of Oman after the vessels ignored radio warnings and approached the Strait of Hormuz, Iran International reports.
The report came after the US Indo-Pacific Command said American forces had intercepted the sanctioned stateless vessel M/T DAVINA in the Indian Ocean overnight.
"We will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate," the command said in a post on X.
Earlier, Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, stated that Iran and the United States have made progress in nuclear talks and are working toward a possible framework agreement on Tehran’s nuclear programme.
“From our point of view, they are quite close to an agreement on an issue that I would describe as relating to the nuclear field, since other issues are not within my competence, to a kind of framework agreement, let us say, a structure that would give them time to examine various problems, so I would say that it is quite possible that it will be reached,” he stressed.
