Iran unveils cutting-edge naval mine in major Persian Gulf drill
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has unveiled a complex new mine during a recent naval drill in southern Iran.
This mine, showcased for the first time in public, boasts advanced capabilities distinct from those of traditional sea mines, although some of its features remain classified, Caliber.Az reports citing Iranian media.
The demonstration took place during a drill in the waters of the Persian Gulf, specifically in the provinces of Bushehr and Khuzestan, which commenced on January 24. This exercise is part of the annual "Eghtedar" (Power) drill, a key component of Iran's military training program.
The IRGC also conducted a land-based version of the "Eghtedar" drill earlier, which involved joint efforts from both the IRGC and Iranian Army forces in various parts of the country, including the provinces of Kermanshah in the west and Isfahan in central Iran.
The unveiling of the new mine is part of a broader effort by the IRGC to showcase and develop sophisticated military technologies. Earlier this year, the IRGC Navy also revealed its own underwater missile system, further emphasizing its focus on enhancing its naval capabilities.
