NetBlocks: Iran targets VPNs and Starlink as blackout continues, user killed
Iran’s internet shutdown has entered its tenth week, with the country remaining largely cut off from global networks, according to internet monitoring group NetBlocks.
The disruption has now reached 64 days of near-total isolation from international connectivity, the group said on X, as quoted by Caliber.Az.
“Iran's internet blackout is now in its tenth week, entering day 64 of near-total isolation from international networks.
The shutdown is accompanied by a regime crackdown on VPNs and satellite terminals, with alarming reports of a Starlink user killed during inspection raids,” the group said.
The extended outage has significantly limited access to external communication platforms, while authorities have intensified enforcement measures targeting tools used to bypass restrictions, including virtual private networks and satellite-based internet systems.
