Iran’s security chief stresses strategic ties with Armenia
Iran regards its relations with Armenia as strategically important, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani said on August 16 during a telephone conversation with Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan.
The Armenian Security Council’s press service shared with Armenian media that Larijani emphasised the consistently positive results of bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan, noting his readiness to further contribute to strengthening these ties, Caliber.Az reports.
Grigoryan, in turn, underlined that institutional links between Armenia and Iran have already been established. He expressed confidence that the implementation of existing agreements would continue, and new areas of cooperation would be developed in the near future.
At the conclusion of the conversation, Larijani extended an invitation to Grigoryan to visit Iran.
The discussion followed recent diplomatic activity between the two countries. Earlier, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan travelled to Tehran, where he held a series of meetings addressing the Washington agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
It was also announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to pay an official visit to Armenia from August 18 to 21.
