Iran still cut off from global internet one month after shutdown
28 March 2026 13:23
Iran remains largely disconnected from the global internet, one month after authorities imposed a nationwide shutdown on February 28, according to monitoring group NetBlocks.
The blackout has now lasted 672 hours, severely limiting the ability of Iranians to communicate and access information. NetBlocks called the prolonged outage a violation of citizens’ right to stay informed, Caliber.Az reports.
The digital shutdown has left much of the country in virtual isolation, with only limited access to state-controlled networks.
Experts warn that such long-term internet disruptions can have wide-ranging effects on daily life, including communication, business, and emergency services.
