Iran vows to "cut off the foot" of any aggressor
Iran has vowed to respond forcefully to any foreign aggression, warning that any intruder stepping onto its territory will face severe consequences, a senior lawmaker said on April 2.
Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, made the remarks in response to recent U.S. threats, Caliber.Az repots, citing Iran’s state news agency.
"If the foot of any aggressor steps onto the sacred land of Islamic Iran, we will cut off that foot," Azizi said.
"According to the teachings of the Islamic Revolution, we have never initiated a war, but we have learned to stand firm and decisively against aggressors."
He also warned the United States and Israel that any attack on Iran’s national security—under any pretext—would have global repercussions.
"The Zionist regime and the U.S. must understand that if they attempt to harm our national security, even in the slightest way, they will no longer feel safe anywhere in the world," Azizi said.
The Iranian lawmaker further cautioned that any country cooperating with the U.S. or Israel could be considered a legitimate target in a potential conflict.
As a reminder, U.S.-Iran tensions have escalated significantly. President Donald Trump has threatened military action against Iran if it refuses to negotiate a new nuclear deal, warning of unprecedented bombing campaigns.
In response, Iran has declined direct talks under pressure but remains open to indirect negotiations. The U.S. has also imposed sanctions on entities in Iran, the UAE, and China, accusing them of supporting Iran's drone program.
Russia has condemned the U.S.'s threats, warning of catastrophic consequences and offering to mediate. These developments follow Trump's earlier withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement, which had lifted sanctions in exchange for limits on Iran's nuclear activities.
